I hope you had a happy, safe holiday!
Ours was pretty quiet. My visiting teachers, Nikki and Sandy, came over. They wanted to bring treats, but they weren't sure what was okay to bring with my restricted diet..so, we sent them home with treats instead. Nikki got some Dixie relish and Sandy got some strawberry peach jam. Yummy.
We had a good visit before the had to leave to visit their next appointment. Sounds like they got the treat! ;o)
I finally put my spiderweb luminaries together. About a month ago I bought theses super cute luminaries from Target for about $2.50 each. They were cute on there own...but they needed a little something-something, if you know what I mean. Here's what I came up with.
Tissue paper and glow in the dark spiders.
I love the way they turned out...
but Josie and I decided they really could use a layered bow of some sort.
Mom has already decided we are headed to Flagstaff on Wednesday, so, it looks I will be looking at whatever holiday ribbon they have on clearance. I don't even think a pretty bow. More of a messy, tangled looking bow would look best...something which looks like it might belong with a spiderweb. The glow inside is a tea light. I tired to find electric candles because of the tissue paper, but no such luck. C'est la vie! Next year, maybe?
I am working on a fall candy dish...which was supposed to be Halloween, but I have changed the theme to Fall since I have not finished it yet. Yes, this is part of the chronic procrastinators pledge...what I cannot accomplish today I will revamp for tomorrow. In all fairness to myself, it really wasn't all procrastination. I've been very busy with school, doctor appointments, and "volunteering." Not to mention canning, cooking and cleaning...or taking care of my husband.
*Sigh!*
And the list of unfinished projects moves on. Naturally the remorse moves in as the time slips by. Why wouldn't it? I really need a new Franklin. I keep saying I am going to use those gift certificates and buy a Levenger notebook, like we talked about ages ago, but I just can't justify the money...even if it is free. They are so freakin' expensive. I can see getting a seven habits student planner a lot more easily. I digress.
We actually ran out of candy tonight. Right when Cheyenne and Rhett came up to the door! I felt so bad...I had to go rummage up some more candy because I love those guys! I couldn't let them leave without any candy! Afterwards Matt headed out to the store for more.
Later we found an anonymous basket outside our door...
Filled with candy, toy skeletons, and toy bugs...and a note!
Wasn't that sweet?
Mom and I think we know who it was and it makes us smile. Matt was kind-of a surrogate dad to those kids when their own dad was not really there for them, before their step-dad entered their lives. But even if it isn't who we suspect...really, it could be anyone. We live in a small town and everyone lives Matt.
While a lot of kids feel animosity towards authority figures, like teachers, most kids love Matt. Whenever we got places people are always calling out "Hey, Mr. Runyon!" Only in a small town! I will admit that it is kinda cool...and to top it off, he teaches high school biology and chemistry. The kids actually want to come to his class to learn...you know that means he's doing something right! Yes, you can tell I am more than a little bit proud of him.
I really thought it was sweet that someone dropped us off some Halloween love like that! Talk about something special!
I guess that's about it for tonight. More later.
